A Unique Goat Cheese Infused with Ribera del Duero Wine

This Goat Cheese with Ribera del Duero Wine is one of those gourmet creations that combines two Spanish traditions: artisanal goat’s milk cheese and one of the most iconic wines of Castilla y León. The result is a cheese with character, elegance, and a beautiful purple rind that makes it as eye-catching as it is delicious.

Why We Love It

The goat cheese is creamy and slightly tangy, while the wine infusion adds fruity, deep notes with hints of red berries and oak. Every bite brings together the freshness of the cheese and the complexity of Ribera del Duero, making it perfect for special occasions or simply to surprise your guests.

How We Enjoy It

We love serving it on a cheese board, paired with crusty bread and Spanish charcuterie. It also pairs wonderfully with red wines, especially Ribera del Duero itself, to highlight the harmony between the cheese and the wine. Its striking color makes it a centerpiece on any gourmet table.

The Story of El Gran Cardenal: Cheesemaking Tradition Since 1951

The story of El Gran Cardenal began in 1951 in the town of Torrelaguna, Madrid, when Francisco Martín Laredo started his journey as a master cheesemaker, crafting traditional sheep’s milk cheeses. His dedication and passion soon attracted growing demand, which led to the relocation of production in 1975 to Medina del Campo (Valladolid), in the heart of Castilla y León — a region renowned for the richness and quality of its milk.

Since then, El Gran Cardenal has preserved the legacy of Francisco Martín Laredo, creating a range of cheeses that enjoy prestige and recognition both in Spain and internationally.

Cheeses with a Castilian Soul

El Gran Cardenal cheeses are made exclusively with milk sourced from local farms in Castilla y León. This region, with its vast plateau, continental Mediterranean climate, and diverse vegetation, is home to flocks of sheep grazing freely across the fields.

This unique natural environment, combined with traditional artisanal methods and fresh milk collected daily throughout the year, results in authentic Castilian cheeses of the highest quality.

International Recognition

El Gran Cardenal’s commitment to excellence has been rewarded with prizes at the most prestigious national and international competitions. Each award is a testament to what cheese lovers already know: behind every piece lies a story of tradition, quality, and passion for the craft.
