Octopus Paté by Agromar – A Gourmet Taste of Northern Spain

Agromar’s Octopus Paté is a smooth, savory spread made in Asturias, where seafood traditions run deep. This small tin packs the bold, briny flavor of octopus in a creamy texture that’s perfect for tapas, appetizers, or anytime you’re craving something a little different.

Why You’ll Love It

  • Premium octopus: Sourced from the cold northern waters of Spain, full of flavor.
  • Traditional recipe: Cooked with olive oil, tomato, onion, and a dash of paprika – simple and honest.
  • Ultra creamy texture: Perfect for spreading on crusty bread, crackers, or gourmet toasts.
  • Small-batch production: Made by Agromar, one of the most respected seafood conservas makers in Spain.

How to Serve It

  • Spread on Obando toasts or artisan crackers for an easy tapa.
  • Top with a touch of extra virgin olive oil and chives.
  • Serve as part of a Spanish paté tasting board with wine.

What Makes It Special?

Octopus is a classic of Galician and Asturian cuisine, and Agromar knows how to treat it right. This paté turns it into something unexpected: a smooth, elegant spread that tastes like the sea, with just the right balance of smokiness and depth. Great for sharing… or not.

From Gijón, Spain

Agromar, with over 50 years of experience, continues to offer the finest quality in canned and precooked products. Our company's history dates back to 1948 when Armando Barrio Mata from Gijón had the original idea of canning sea urchin roe, which was abundant in the Asturian coastal areas at the time.

Initially intended for family consumption and given as gifts, the unique product quickly showed commercial potential, which Armando recognized and developed.

During those years, there were many small artisanal canneries scattered along the Cantabrian coast, including one operated by his father back in 1920. Armando himself produced and marketed fish preserves, perhaps the most artisanal of canned goods.

It was he who finally registered the brand in 1968 and who, 21 years later, facilitated the birth of what we now know as CONSERVAS AGROMAR, a young and innovative corporation.

For the production of their preserves, they use locally sourced ingredients of the highest quality, with a specialty in tuna preserves. In the case of their prepared dishes, they use only natural ingredients, respecting the traditional recipes that have been passed down for centuries from generation to generation.
